Practices and Resources

Presence

For Prescence, I plan to practice daily mindfulness meditation and read my bible before I have exams, study or etc. In doing this, it shows mindfulness before I start a new day of stress or work, this will allow me to relax and gain control over my emotions for the day. For my resource, I plan to use an app called Headspace and a bible app called bible chat. The app headspace allows me to have a mediation created for me each new day to gain control of my self. Additionally, the app bible chat gives me a new bible verse each day to focus on centered towards what I feel in that day. These apps help me to focus on the task.

Chronemics

For chronemics, I plan to use the notes app and a planner to be able to organize my classes and write down the tasks I have to complete each day, so I don’t feel overwhelmed. This will enable me to manage my time better when I am a physician and make it easier for me to remember all the different tasks I have to do. The resources I have for this is the notes app because it will help me to plan as it is something easy too. use and I will also use a planner just to be able to actually write things down.

Preparedness

For preparedness, I plan to use spaced repetition with active recall using Anki and Pomodoro time management plan so that I am completely prepared for exams and don’t feel like im rushing anything. This will allow me to understand my material with time and will be helpful also in the future in case I have to study for a clinical exam or a presentation, I will use spaced repetition to understand the material I need to know without rushing. My resources for this is Anki which are basically online flashcards that allow for spaced repetition and Pomodoro which is a time management method that divides work into focused 25-minute intervals, called Pomodoros, with short 5-minute breaks in between.

Communication

For communication, I can participate in language exchange or community volunteering where I am able to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds and languages This helps me to build connections with patients of all backgrounds and be respectful to all especially those with limited English proficiency. The resource I can use for this is Duolingo or even taking classes during school to make sure that I can speak conversationally and make sure I can provide care to all the patients I can.

Interpersonal Functioning

The final area, interpersonal functioning, I plan to practice is reflective journaling after something that was very stresssful for me and scary. This helps me to strengthen my self-awareness, how I deal with my emotions, and help me to get all their stress out that I needed to. Additionally, I can practice active listening by focusing fully on what they’re saying without trying to reply. Both these approaches helps me to build trust and connections with patenints and coworkers. The resource I would use is The Empathy Exams by Leslie Jamison because it is a collection of essay that explor the nature of empathy and I will need to be in touch with my emotions. is a critically acclaimed collection of personal essays that explore the nature of empathy—how we experience it, express it, and sometimes fail to achieve it.for this is Strengthens self-awareness, emotional regulation, and cultural sensitivity—qualities vital for collaborative healthcare environments.The resource for this is emotional intelligence in medicine framework that talks about self-awareness in clinical settings.
